The next of kin of those killed in the Bavla-Bagodara Highway disaster would get Rs 2 lakh as a gift, according to PM Modi

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his sympathies for the unfortunate accident on the Bavla-Bagodara highway in Ahmedabad. He also stated that the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will provide an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh to each dead person’s next of kin and Rs. 50,000 to each wounded person.

“I am distressed by the traffic accident on the Bavla-Bagodara route in the Ahmedabad area. Condolences to the families of the deceased. May those who were hurt quickly heal. The local government is offering whatever aid it can to individuals who are in need, PM Modi tweeted.

The next of kin of each dead person would get an ex-gratia payment from PMNRF of Rs 2 lakh. The wounded would get Rs 50,000, the tweeter continued.

 

Ten people were murdered on Friday, including five women and three children, after their car collided with a truck that was stopped on the side of the road due to a puncture. There were 23 individuals in the Ahmedabad-bound van in all; 10 of them perished, while two others suffered critical injuries.

 

 

According to Ahmedabad SP Amit N Vasava, “Today throughout the day, an event took place in which a vehicle was traveling from Rajkot to Ahmedabad and the individuals traveling in the vehicle are from Kheda village. The truck was halted at the roadside owing to a puncture. Passengers died as a result of the vehicle’s collision with a truck that was parked on the side of the road. Ten individuals, including three children, two men, and five women, have passed away.

 

According to the police official, RTO and NHAI are also participating in the inquiry that is now taking place.
