The West Bengal Cabinet Approves Home Guard Employment For Panchayat Poll Victims’ Families

According to an official, the West Bengal cabinet has approved the idea of giving employment to relatives of those murdered in political confrontations during the July panchayat elections.

“The cabinet on Friday okayed the proposal of providing the job of a home guard for one family member of each of the deceased,” according to him.

In July, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that one family member of each of the 19 people slain in the political unrest will get employment.

The victims’ families have already received financial support from the state government in the amount of Rs 2 lakh each.
