Two Govindas were hurt while constructing human pyramids during the Dahi Handi celebrations

During the Dahi Handi festivities that were a part of the Krishna Janmashtami festival on Thursday in Mumbai, at least two ‘Govindas’ were hurt in as many instances, a representative claimed. The two are stable and receiving care in city hospitals, he said.

In order to shatter “dahi handis” (earthen pots filled with curd) floating in the air, Govindas or Dahi Handi participants build multi-tiered human pyramids during the event.

According to him, the holiday is being observed across the city.

As teams attempted to create human pyramids, one Govinda was harmed in the heart of Mumbai, and another was hurt in an eastern neighborhood.

At the civic-run KEM hospital in Parel, one of the wounded Dahi Handi participants is receiving medical attention. He said that the second Govinda was transferred to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, another civic-run institution.

The official said that their status is steady.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has 125 beds available at civic-run hospitals to treat injured Govindas as part of its preemptive efforts, he added.
