Udhampur: Opposition parties bring up “unemployment,” while the BJP relies on its development theme

While the Congress and Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) are criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on concerns of unemployment and growing prices, among other local issues, the BJP is betting on development in the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat.

The Doda district’s Purple Revolution, in which hundreds of young people established their start-ups via lavender farming and began making a respectable life, was emphasized by BJP candidate Jitendra Singh.

The cutting-edge Chenani-Nashri tunnel, named for Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, the Katra-Delhi Express road corridor, the first-ever J&K seed processing plant in Kathua, and the first-ever cancer hospital in partnership with Tata Memorial Center in Kathua are just a few of the significant development projects Singh highlights during his rallies.

The 1,000 MW Pakal Dul, Kiru, Kwar, and Dul Hasti hydropower projects in the Kishtwar area are among the four new hydroelectric projects he mentions.

During his rallies, Congress candidate Choudhary Lal Singh, however, has accused the saffron party of ignoring local workers while giving lucrative posts to “outsiders.” He said that local workers were being given subordinate status.

Additionally, he accused him of declaring that both inflation and unemployment were on the rise.

However, GM Saroori, the Democratic Progressive Azad Party’s (DPAP) nominee, often brings up at rallies the fact that the area had significant advancements when Ghulam Nabi Azad was the chief minister from 2005 to 2008.
