UP government to use solar energy to brighten Bundelkhand Expressway

The Yogi Adityanath administration in Uttar Pradesh has unveiled a revolutionary plan to power the Bundelkhand Expressway with solar energy as part of its pledge to speed up industrial expansion and maintain and improve infrastructure for industrial corridors and motorways.

The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is planning to carry out the novel idea and has already issued a letter of “Expression of Interest” in accordance with CM Yogi’s objective. In light of this, a thorough plan has been created to turn the Bundelkhand Expressway into a “Solar Expressway,” complete with the large-scale installation of solar panels based on the PPP model.

On the directives of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a thorough action plan has been established to convert the 296 km long Bundelkhand Expressway into a solar-powered expressway, according to information obtained from UPEIDA here on Thursday. UPEIDA subsequently requested applications from qualified candidates by sending out a letter of “Expression of Interest.”

The Bundelkhand highway will be converted into a solar highway, and solar panels will be installed, according to the Expression of Interest, which is seeking proposals and ideas from private businesses. By 3pm on August 17, interested candidates may submit an application through ‘[email protected]’.

Selected applicants will be contacted from among the applications submitted to provide more information, and when those presentations are concluded, the process of installing solar panels will begin.

One of Uttar Pradesh’s most cutting-edge and well-equipped expressways is the Bundelkhand Expressway.

It is interesting that the main carriageway and service lane of this 4 lane, 296 km long roadway are divided into two sections. The space between these two, which serves as a barrier to separate it from agricultural land, is now unoccupied throughout the whole highway and has a width of around 15 to 20 meters. This area will eventually be covered with solar panels.
