Warring’s caravan causes traffic jams

Commuters were inconvenienced by a roadshow that the Congress arranged to greet its candidate, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, on his first visit to the city after the announcement of his candidacy. At Samrala Chowk, where Warring started the roadshow, there was a long-lasting traffic gridlock.

Large-scale gatherings of Congress workers headed by top leaders had begun even before Warring arrived at Samrala Chowk. They contributed to the traffic jam by carelessly parking their cars on the road.

Despite the fact that police officers were also stationed to monitor traffic, there were too many Congress employees and their cars parked on the road for traffic to be controlled. On the routes connecting Doraha-Sahnewal and Chandigarh, there were lengthy lines of cars.

Such roadshows need to be prohibited from occurring near busy intersections and highways, as they constantly create annoyance for the local populace. Hardik Sharma, a commuter who was on his way to work, stated, “These political leaders purposefully hold such roadshows in crowded places to highlight their political clout and to make their presence felt. However, such practices should not be allowed.”

Another passenger, Ravinder Kumar, said that he spent more than an hour detained at Samrala Chowk when he had to deliver veggies to some merchants.

Wondering why such political spectacles on the roads are allowed, commuters questioned the traffic control officials. One passenger questioned, “Surely they’re aware such thoroughfares stay congested throughout the day? What if an ambulance transporting a patient gets stuck? If a patient passes away, who will be held accountable?

Other locations, including Bharat Nagar Chowk, Aarti Chowk, Durga Mata Mandir, Bhai Bala Chowk, Jagraon Bridge, Malhar Chowk, Baba Than Singh Chowk, CMC Hospital, and Field Ganj, were also impacted by the roadshow.
