Wheat and vegetable harvests in the Kangra area were trampled

Wheat, potato, and vegetable crops were harmed by last night’s thunderstorm and heavy rain in the Kangra and Una areas. In some places, the wheat crop has flattened as a consequence of the rain and thunder storms. Scientists studying agriculture have issued a warning: in addition to lowering crop yields, rain and thunderstorms may cause fungal infections to spread throughout crops.

According to agricultural specialists, the wheat crop was at the heading stage in the state’s mid- and high-hill regions, while it was almost mature in the state’s lower regions. It is important for farmers to make sure that their fields have enough drainage since the wheat crop was vulnerable to standing water. They also said that farmers need to wait to harvest their wheat crop until the weather clears and there is no chance of rain.

According to agricultural experts, production loss in some locations might result from the wheat crop flattening. In Kangra, the thunderstorm caused traffic disruptions as well because uprooted trees fell across highways.
