You are indigenous people and the land’s original owners for Congress: Gandhi Rahul in Wayanad

Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, declared in a speech to a crowd on Sunday in his Wayanad district that the Congress party holds the Adivasis to be the nation’s original proprietors. Additionally, he said that naming the Adivasi group “Vanvasi” instead of “Adivasi” was a ploy to confine them to the jungles by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led administration.

Rahul Gandhi said that the BJP denigrates the tribal group by referring to them as “vanvasi” rather than “Adivasi” and by stealing their forest land to give it to capitalists. Gandhi also discussed this topic during a party gathering in Rajasthan.

After launching HT Connection at the Dr. Ambokar Memorial Cancer Centre Nalloornad, Mananthavady in the Wayanad district, Gandhi criticized the “perverted logic” of calling tribal people “vanvasis.”

 

According to Wayanad MP, the goal is to “deny that you (tribes) are the original owners of the land” and “restrict you to the jungle.”

“The idea is that you should not leave the jungle and that you belong in the jungle,” he stated.

 

The head of the Congress said that his party did not agree with this philosophy since the term “vanvasi” was a “distortion” of the history and customs of the tribal people and a “attack” on their connection with the nation.

 

“For us (Congress), you are Adivasi, the original owners of the land,” he said.

 

Gandhi went on to say that as Adivasis were the original land owners, they should have access to the land and woods as well as “be allowed to have an imagination to do whatever they want”.

 

They need to be provided the same chances as everyone else in the nation for employment, education, and other vocations.

 

“You (tribals) shouldn’t be limited or lumped together. You should have access to the whole world, he remarked.

 

According to Gandhi, the term “Adivasi” refers to a special knowledge, a comprehension of the world in which we exist, and a connection to the Earth.

 

Additionally, he said that because contemporary civilization has destroyed forests and polluted the environment, the terms “environment” and “environment protection” have gained popularity.

 

Adivasis, however, have been discussing environmental preservation for a very long time. So you’ve got a lot to teach us, he said.

 

The Congress leader expressed his optimism that the new electrical connection will help the cancer center’s physicians and patients deal with the issues brought on by the region’s regular power outages.

 

He noted that the hospital would get an extra Rs 5 crore as a consequence of the excellent job done by the district authorities and expressed his happiness to provide Rs 50 lakh from the MPLADS money for the same.

He also brought up the idea of having mobile breast cancer screening units that may visit women’s homes and check them for the illness during the event.

 

He put up the suggestion, claiming he had learned that several women in this area were receiving breast cancer diagnoses.

 

“Having mobile screening units will help us catch the disease early and save their lives,” the man said.

 

He will be traveling to the Kozhikode district later this evening to lay the cornerstone for the Community Disability Management Center (CDMC) at the Kodenchery St. Joseph High School Auditorium.

 

He will thereafter fly out of Calicut International Airport for Delhi at around 10.30 PM.

 

Gandhi made his first trip after being reinstalled as the MP of Wayanad on Saturday, beginning a two-day stay in Kerala.
