Before the Asia Cup final, Washington Sundar is set to join the Indian squad

– New Delhi Washington Sundar, a young all-rounder who bowls off-spin, is probably going to play for India in the Asia Cup final on Sunday against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

In response to Axar Patel taking many hits while batting against Bangladesh in their last Super Four game on Friday, sources state that Sundar is being sent to the capital of Sri Lanka as a replacement.

Axar was instrumental in preserving India’s chances in the game against Bangladesh. In his inning, he scored 42 runs on 34 balls. He made two successful alliances throughout the game. The first partnership, which produced 39 runs for the seventh wicket, was with centurion Shubman Gill. Axar and Shardul Thakur joined forces later in the innings, adding 40 runs for the ninth wicket.

But his dismissal in the 49th over allowed Bangladesh to win the dead rubber by only six runs.

Axar needed treatment on the field after being struck thrice, twice on each hand.

For the Indian squad competing at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, Washington Sundar has been chosen. He’s now attending a training camp in Bengaluru as part of his preparation. Camp continues through September 23.

In January of this year, the southpaw last competed in an ODI at home against New Zealand.
