Fast bowlers, you voluntarily accept injuries: Prasidh Krishna Exposes the Ugly Truth

Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna were added to the Indian cricket team for the tour of Ireland by the BCCI selection committee. The team is back in play after fighting injuries.

Krishna, though, has acknowledged that accidents happen, particularly for a fast bowler’s career. Krishna rejoined the Indian squad after missing last August’s game because of a spine ailment. Krishna, who was a potential leader of the pace attack for the T20 World Cup 2022 last year, fell straight down the lineup as a result of injuries.

Since August 2022, the 27-year-old’s cricket career has been hampered by injuries. Krishna hasn’t played for India in a competitive match of cricket since the ODI series against Zimbabwe in August of last year, when a lumbar spine injury rendered him completely ineligible.

Krishna believes that injuries are inevitable for players who choose to specialize as fast bowlers.

“I don’t have any excitement or trepidation. I approach it reasonably. Injuries, long days, and hard labor are all things that fast bowlers sign up for because they are a necessary part of our profession. When everyone is playing a lot of cricket, it’s not easy. Even if there is a lot going on and you are at home, not really eligible for selection, Krishna remained upbeat, according to ESPNcricinfo.

He continued by describing his mentality throughout this challenging period and how it evolved.

“Of course, in the first stage before to the operation, I was a bit impatient as to why it was taking so long, particularly since I had begun bowling. There were times when I felt fantastic and thought, “Oh, I’m ready to play,” but after two more sessions, I realized that my body needed a lot more of them at the same intensity to condition itself. The intensity will be quite great if I have to play at my very best. I knew it would take some time after the procedure was over. I changed the way I saw things. I took things day by day. I had fun with my family and was content with my training. Fantastic things occurred. I felt extremely upbeat and enthusiastic,” continued Krishna.

In September of last year, Krishna was chosen for India A’s white-ball series against New Zealand A, but an unforeseen injury prevented him from playing. Additional testing identified the pacer’s stress fracture.

Prasidh will miss the 2023 Indian Premier League season with Rajasthan Royals due to a stress fracture.

This year will see the Asia Cup and the ODI Cricket World Cup. The squad has not yet been picked by the selectors.
