German forward Kai Havertz has signed a contract with Arsenal

In an alleged 65 million pound ($82 million) transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal, Kai Havertz completed his cross-London move.

Arsenal announced that the German international has signed a “long-term contract.”

After Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season, the 24-year-old attacker is Mikel Arteta’s first acquisition of the summer.

“You’ve probably seen it already. But I’m a Gunner now, officially,” Havertz tweeted, adding a love emoji.

Due to his goals in the Club World Cup victory last year and the 2021 Champions League final, Havertz will always be remembered as a Chelsea legend. However, he eventually fell short of the club’s hopes for him to become one of Europe’s best players, which led to his departure after three seasons at Stamford Bridge.

After being devastated by his team’s championship defence last season, Arteta is looking to become stronger this summer.

Despite dominating the standings for the most of the season, Arsenal lost steam in the final weeks, allowing Manchester City to win the league title for the third time in a row.

Declan Rice of West Ham has also been linked to a transfer to Arsenal.

In 2020, as part of a significant hiring effort, Havertz transferred from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea for $92 million.

In 139 appearances across all leagues, he scored 32 goals, the most significant of which was his Champions League championship goal against Man City.
