In the mixed doubles final at the Asian Games, Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale

At the 19th Asian Games, here in this city on Friday, Indian tennis stars Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale advanced to the mixed doubles gold medal match with a 6-1, 3-6, 10-4 victory against Chinese Taipei’s Yu-hsiou Hsu and Hao-ching Chang.

The Indian team won the first set in only 28 minutes, taking the lead right away. However, the third-seeded Chinese Taipei pair rallied in the second set to equalize the score and force a 10-point tiebreaker.

Then, Bopanna and Bhosale prevailed in the tie-breaker with six important points, securing their place in the mixed doubles championship.

On Saturday, India will compete in the gold medal match against the other Chinese Taipei pair, Tsung-hao Huang and En-shuo Liang.

Notably, Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale are very certain to win their first mixed doubles medal at the Asian Games, which would be a huge accomplishment for both athletes.

The Indian team has won a total of six medals in mixed doubles throughout the Asian Games’ history, including two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal apiece.
