Jurgen Klopp denies rumors about Kylian Mbappe and expresses concern about Saudi Arabia’s expanding influence

Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are still at odds, with the latter apparently chasing him away from Parc de Princes. There is interest in the France captain from clubs in England, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and many other countries. Liverpool is one such team that is said to be interested in Mbappe.

Al-Hilal, a Saudi Arabian club, has made a record 300 million euro ($332 million) offer for Mbappé. In the middle of that, Klopp’s Liverpool have been linked to the PSG star, but the German has laughed the rumors off.

When his current contract expires, he may also be open to a short-term move for this season before departing on a free transfer the following year, potentially to join Real Madrid.

In a statement to broadcaster Sky Germany, Klopp said, “We laugh about it,” as he got his team ready for the Bayern Munich encounter in Singapore, the team’s last preseason Asia tour fixture.

“I think he’s a really good player, but the financial situation doesn’t work for us at all,” I said. I don’t want to spoil the tale right now, but from what I can tell, there is nothing to it. Since I’ve been here for eight years, it’s conceivable that someone else from the club is planning something and wants to surprise me. That would be the first occurrence.

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, both midfielders for Liverpool, have left for Saudi Arabian teams during the current summer transfer window. After his Liverpool contract ended, Roberto Firmino also left for the oil-rich nation.

The fact that the Saudi Arabian transfer market is open until September 20—nearly three weeks after the European window closes—disappointed Klopp.

According to statements from Klopp that were published by the British channel BBC, Saudi Arabia’s influence is “massive at the moment.” The fact that the transfer window is open for an additional three weeks in Saudi Arabia is, in my opinion, the worst thing. If I recall well, I heard something along such lines, and in Europe at least, that is not beneficial.

“UEFA or FIFA need to come up with answers for it. But for now, I’m unsure of the specifics of what will transpire.
