Kerala Cheating Case Named in FIR for S Sreesanth: Report

S Sreesanth, a former cricket player for India, is facing allegations of cheating in Kerala and has been identified in a formal complaint.

A resident of Choonda Kannapuram has accused Sreesanth and two other people of defrauding him of Rs 18.7 lakh. Sreesanth’s professional career was abruptly ended when he was implicated in an IPL spot-fixing controversy.

Sareesh Balagopan has filed a complaint, according to a report in the news agency ANI. He alleges that the money was seized from him for the purpose of building a sports school in Kollur, Karnataka.

According to Sareesh, he put the money in with the intention of joining the sports school as a partner.

The two other accused parties in the case are Venkatesh Kini and Rajiv Kumar.

The three have been charged under IPC Section 420 by the Kerala police (cheating and dishonesty inducing handover of property).

Sreesanth, forty, is now playing Legends League Cricket for the Gujarat Giants.

The right-arm bowler, who played for two world championship winning teams in the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2007 World T20, ended his exciting career in India and local cricket when he announced his retirement in 2019.

He made his debut as a gifted pacer with an excellent upright seam location.

Throughout his international career, which included 27 Tests, 53 ODIs, and 10 T20Is for India between 2005 and 2011, he claimed 169 wickets.

After Sreesanth and two other cricket players, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, were found guilty by the BCCI of spot-fixing in the 2013 IPL, his career was essentially over.

The Kerala High Court reversed the lifelong ban imposed on Sreesanth in August 2017.

After that, Sreesanth went back to playing in the hopes of making a return for India.

Additionally, he was placed on the shortlist for the 2021 and 2022 IPL players auctions, but no one bid.

Nonetheless, he is still active in a number of T20 competitions throughout the world.
