Man Arrested For Pretending To Be A GCA Official And Cheating A Ticket Buyer Out Of Rs 2.68 Lakh For The IND vs. PAK World Cup 2023

According to a police officer, a guy was detained on Saturday for reportedly acting as a representative of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) and tricking someone out of Rs 2.68 lakh in exchange for 41 tickets to the India-Pakistan World Cup match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

According to Anandnagar police station inspector VM Desai, complainant Masri Kandoria came across Jay Shah’s Facebook page between September 22 and 23, who claimed to be a GCA representative and was offering tickets for the India-Pakistan match. This information was provided by news agency PTI.

An official said that Kandoria contacted Shah using the telephone number provided on the social networking site and requested 41 tickets for friends and family members, for which he paid the accused Rs 2.68 lakh.

“The complainant and his companions paid Shah 90,000 for the first set of 15 tickets, followed by Rs 30,000 for a second set of five tickets, and so on. Kandoria, however, was not given any tickets. Shah was detained on Friday for violating trust, defrauding, and other offenses, according to the Indian Penal Code, he added.

The Ahmedabad police earlier detained four people for peddling fake India-Pakistan match tickets.

As energized spectators entered the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday for the World Cup match between India and Pakistan, cries of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” resounded around the stadium.

Foreign citizens from nations like the US and New Zealand excitedly awaited to enter the stadium and take part in the electrifying atmosphere inside, in addition to Indians and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), who showed up in great numbers to support Team India.
