Michael Clarke lashes out at DC captain after a crushing defeat to KKR—Rishabh Pant did it wrong

Monday, April 29, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, saw DC fall to KKR 7 wickets. Following this, Michael Clarke took a swipe at Rishabh Pant for his remarks. Even though the Capitals lost handily, Pant supported his choice to bat first. DC whickered their way to 153 for 9 in 20 overs after deciding to bat.

Kuldeep Yadav, who was batting at No. 9, was the highest scorer for the visitors with an undefeated 35 off 26 balls that included five fours and one six. With just 21 balls remaining in their innings, the Knights easily defeated the objective, making a joke of it. In the powerplay, Phil Salt and Sunil Narine scored 79 runs to set the stage for KKR. Despite taking two wickets, Axar Patel’s efforts were unable to help DC prevail.

“I’m not sure whether I agree with every statement made in the wake of the game. You either win and get it right, or you lose and get it wrong. I believe that his decision to bat on that surface was incorrect. And they were 50 runs short, not 10, I believe,” Clarke said to Star Sports.

With 3.3 overs remaining in the run chase, KKR trailed by only 3 wickets. KKR may have earned an additional 40, if not 50, points. Therefore, if DC was going to bat first, I believe they required 200,” he said.

Pant’s DC are battling at sixth in the rankings with 10 points and a net run rate of -0.442 after suffering their sixth loss of the season. Conversely, KKR is comfortably positioned in second place with 12 points.

DC would be quite unhappy since they had momentum as well, but KR would be ecstatic. They had faith in their ability to play. Sadly, tonight did not go as planned, which is possible with this format, said Clarke.

When DC plays Sanju Samson’s RR on Tuesday, May 7 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, they will be trying to make apologies.
