National Tennis Championship Fenesta Open: Shanker Heisnam and Rishitha Basireddy Win Titles
Shanker Heisnam of Manipur and Prisha Shinde of Maharashtra pulled off significant shocks to win the 28th Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship on Saturday in their respective divisions.
The No. 16 seed Shanker beat Tamil Nadu’s Thirumurugan V, the seventh seed, in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, to win the boys singles U-16 championship.
Prisha defeated sixth-seeded Anandita Upadhyay 6-1, 6-2 to win the girls’ singles U-14 championship.
Rishitha Basireddy of Telangana won the girls’ singles U-16 championship after defeating Aishi Bisht of Delhi 6-4 6-3 in a thrilling match that included some fierce forehands from both players.
Telangana’s top seed Hruthik Katakam beat Prakaash Sarran of Karnataka 6-4, 6-3 to win the boys’ singles U-14 championship.
