Olympic Qualifiers for World Wrestling: Sunil Kumar will determine if India’s Greco-Roman chances for Paris 2024
On Thursday, Sunil was unable to meet his Olympic quota in the 87kg division; however, he will try again in repechage on Friday. At the World Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday, Sunil Kumar advanced to the repechage round in the men’s 87kg class, preserving India’s chances of sending a team to compete in Greco-Roman in Paris 2024.
Wrestlers have one more chance to earn a quota for the Summer Games, which is the Istanbul meet. In every weight class, three quotas for the Paris Olympics are available.
The two winners in each category will get quotas for their respective nations at the Paris Olympics in 2024. The winner of the playoff match between the two weight-class bronze medalists will take the third position, however.
