Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, was fined Rs. 12 lakh for his poor over rate against the Gujarat Titans

Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, has been fined Rs 12 lakh for his team’s poor overrate against the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League.

The Titans, captained by Shubman Gill, ended the Royals’ four-game winning run on Wednesday when they prevailed by three wickets in an exciting last-ball contest.

“An IPL statement stated that Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, has been fined for his team’s slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against the Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur on April 10.”

“Samson was fined Rs 12 lakhs as it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences,” the statement said.

With the help of Riyan Parag (78) and Samson’s unbeaten 68 off 38 deliveries, the Royals amassed a formidable 196 for 3.

But, the former IPL winners were able to cross the finish line with the last ball thanks to a brilliant innings of 72 by GT captain Gill at the top and a cameo by Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan 24 from 11 deliveries at the back end.
