Wasim Akram’s All-Time Combined IND-PAK ODI XI Features Six Indians, including Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni

Wasim Akram, a legendary fast bowler, has chosen his all-time combined India-Pakistan eleven, with Imran Khan serving as captain. There are just two current players among the team’s six Indians and five Pakistani stars.

Saeed Anwar was chosen by Akram, generally regarded as the best left-arm bowler to ever play the game, to start the innings with Virender Sehwag and “the great man” Sachin Tendulkar.

“Left-handed Saeed Anwar from Pakistan will be my first pitch. I believe he scored 19 ODI hundreds; he is not the finest fielder, but as a batsman, he is among the best players Pakistan has ever produced.

“Virender Sehwag will be my choice to open with him. Yet another spry player—one of my favorites. In Test cricket, he altered the thinking of an opener. Prior to Sehwag, there were three slips and a gully; Sehwag began just whacking everyone and earned a few triple-hundreds, the speaker said.

Given Tendulkar’s outstanding ODI statistics, Akram had little trouble selecting him at no. 3, but there were many other deserving candidates for the no. 4 place, including Rohit Sharma, Babar Azam, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas, and Inzamam-ul-Haq, among others.

In the end, he chose Miandad.

“Sachin Tendulkar, the great guy, is number three. Can’t go wrong with international hundreds. It’s quite tough to choose number four. In addition to Rohit Sharma, I also have Mohammad Yousuf, Babar Azam, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Inzamam-ul-Haq. It’s difficult not to choose Rohit. However, at four, I’m going to choose Javed Miandad because of the way he batted, how he evaluated situations, and the fact that he was a great fielder in his prime, Akram remarked.

The 1992 ODI World Cup champions of Pakistan are ranked No. 5 in their squad, followed by contemporary batting star Virat Kohli and previous skipper Imran.

The star-studded eleven also includes another world cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev, whom Akram refers to as his “hero.”

“I’ll choose Virat Kohli for position five. Virat Kohli cannot simply be excluded from the starting lineup as a selector. Imran Khan, batting at number six and presumably the captain, is my pick for the position. Then, of course, there is Kapil Dev, another legendary figure and one of my heroes, Akram remarked.

Saqlain Mushtaq will be in charge of the spin department, while Jasprit Bumrah and Waqar Younis will serve as the two top fast bowlers.

Saeed Anwar, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Javed Miandad, Virat Kohli, Imran Khan (captain), Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni (wk), Saqlain Mushtaq, Jasprit Bumrah, and Waqar Younis make up Wasim Akarm’s combined Indian and Pakistani ODI XI.
