Free gas cylinders will be given out during Holi as well as Diwali: Yogi CM

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath said on Friday that the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana recipients will need to connect their bank accounts with Aadhaar in order to get free gas cylinders from the state government, even during Holi in March.
On Friday, the chief minister began the distribution campaign for 1.75 crore eligible households in the state to get free cooking gas cylinder refills under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in honor of Dhanteras. For this campaign, the state government would invest Rs 2,312 crore.
Speaking during the Assembly elections in 2022, Chief Minister Yogi stated: “Our government is fulfilling another announcement made in the ‘Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra’.” The residents couldn’t receive gas hookups before to 2014. They were had to wait in lengthy lines for cylinders even in cases when a connection was possible.

He emphasized that the Ujjwala program, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched in 2016, has effectively resolved the nation’s gas scarcity problem. Approximately 50 crore individuals benefited from the first free gas connection that was given to almost 9.60 crore homes nationwide.

Recently, LPG customers received an extra Rs 300 in subsidies from Prime Minister Modi. Beneficiaries are already getting the subsidies straight into their accounts—there has been no theft or fraud. The subsidy money is instantly hitting their account as it is connected to Aadhaar,” he said.

According to Chief Minister Yogi, Prime Minister Modi’s Ujjwala initiative has not only given the impoverished and disenfranchised access to clean fuel in the form of LPG, but has also helped save people’s lungs and eyes.

Union Minister Kaushal Kishore, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, MLAs Yogesh Shukla and Neeraj Bora, MLCs Bukkal Nawab and Mukesh Sharma, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, and representatives from Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, and Bharat Petroleum were present during this program.
