Significant Mishap in Kasganj: 20 UP Devotees Died When Tractor-Trolley Falls Into Pond

In a heartbreaking tragedy that happened on Saturday in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh, at least 20 people—including women and children—lost their life.

The tragic event occurred when a fast-moving tractor trolley lost control and fell into a nearby pond. The automobile was transporting worshippers to Kadarganj Ghat so they could celebrate the auspicious festival of “Magh Purnima” by participating in the holy custom of bathing in the Ganga river.

Around ten in the morning, the incident was reported close to Dariavganj station, which is located in the Patiali Kotwali neighborhood. Eight female devotees and seven youngsters were among the passengers. In the meanwhile, footage from the event has gone viral on social media, showing the locals pitching in to assist the police with the rescue efforts.

The bulk of the rescued devotees, who were from Kaha village in the nearby Etah district, were taken right away to the Patiali health center.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed his sorrow over the disaster, offered condolences for the people who lost their lives in the collision, and directed the authorities to tend to the wounded. Additionally, he declared compensation for the wounded people of Rs 50,000 and the families of the deceased of Rs 2 lakh apiece.
