UP Board exams: question paper security akin to an EVM

PRAYAGRAJ: This year, the monitoring of UP Board high school and intermediate exam question papers, which are slated to begin on February 22, will be conducted in the same manner as voting-related EVM security.

The strong rooms will have night vision cameras installed for 24-hour surveillance. In addition, armed police officers will be stationed to monitor the examination center’s strong rooms around-the-clock.
Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar has instructed all DMs, police commissioners, SSPs, directors of secondary education, secretary of the UP Board, and divisional joint directors of education to ensure the security and secrecy of question papers.
A strong room will be created in a safe area apart from the principal’s room to house the exam question sheets and associated paperwork. There will be two almirahs in this strong room to store these things.
The first double lockable closet will provide a place to store the question papers that were received prior to the test. The second closet will hold the remaining bundle slips and question sheets. The installation of high-quality CCTV cameras with night vision will provide adequate surveillance of the strong room and the cabinets. These CCTVs’ DVRs will be able to record for at least 30 days.
When the question papers and answer sheets arrive at the testing location, the recordings from the CCTV cameras placed in the exam hall and the strong room during the entire exam period must be preserved for a minimum of six months and made available to the board upon request.
Furthermore, the stationary magistrate stationed in the center will safeguard the strong room’s keys.
The only person who can unlock the two locks is a stationary magistrate. If the question paper is taken before to the start of the relevant examination, the static magistrate, center administrator, and external center administrator shall be held accountable. No officer or staff member using a cell phone will be permitted entry into the strong room.
