UP: Each district will have its own cybercrime station

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has resolved to provide the state police at all levels with every tool at their disposal to combat cybercrime.
The Chief Minister ordered that the cyber crime police stations, which are currently operating at the regional level, be expanded to all 75 districts and the cyber cells, which are currently operating at the district level, be expanded to all police stations while reviewing the state’s cyber security measures on Saturday.
In accordance with the Chief Minister’s directive, 57 new cyber police stations will be established in the state over the next two months, and all police stations—aside from those with cyber assistance desks—will also have operational cyber cells. There will be local police lines established up for all cyber police stations.

The Chief Minister said at the review meeting that the abuse of technology has altered crime in recent years.

Today, a variety of cyber scams are being reported including customer service, pension, energy bills, work from home, sextortion, loan apps, parcels, franchisees, phony betting apps, cryptocurrency investment fraud, and Ponzi scheme fraud. This is directly harming the average person. We must exercise caution at all levels to prevent this, the chief minister stated.

CM Yogi reminded authorities that spreading awareness is the most effective way to stop cybercrimes and gave them the go-ahead to create awareness materials right now and use them in addition to incorporating them into school curricula.

Additionally, he noted, administrators and instructors should be made aware of cybercrime in a phased way, followed by kids and their parents, by training BSA/DIOS as master trainers.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of providing the police force with proper training in order to investigate cyber crimes, saying that 05 police officers from each district should receive state-level training while the trained police officers are responsible for instructing 05 inspectors/sub-inspectors from each police station in their district regarding the course that is offered on the Citren portal.
