Uttar Pradesh: The ED searches the home of Irfan Solanki, an imprisoned SP MLA, and his brother, a PMLA in Kanpur

On Thursday, an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team raided the Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, home of Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Irfan Solanki, who is now incarcerated. The source indicates that the investigation agency team is visiting Solanki’s home in Jajmau right now. The Prevention of Money Laundering Act is also being used to justify raids on Arsad, Solanki’s brother,’s property.

Remarkably, Solanki has been detained in Maharajganj prison for the last year after a woman’s accusation of land encroachment and the filing of over a dozen complaints against him.

In addition, the home of constructor Haji Wasi is being searched by the investigative agency. Wasi, who is connected to Irfan Solanki, is among a number of people of Bangladeshi descent who are charged with participating in the Kanpur arson incident in 2022.
