Varanasi exceeds Uttar Pradesh’s solar energy goals

Varanasi (UP): In Uttar Pradesh (UP), Varanasi is at the forefront of environmental and energy saving efforts.

With an emphasis on environmental preservation, the government’s plans to turn Varanasi into a solar city are gathering steam and offering substantial financial and electrical savings.

A government spokeswoman claims that under the “Har Ghar Solar Yojana,” more than 28,000 solar rooftop grid system registrations have been completed in only 2.5 months, exceeding the intended 25,000 connections.

According to Chief Development Officer Himanshu Nagpal, the “PM Surya Ghar Yojana” has increased the number of connections to almost 72,000 from the original goal of 25,000 solar rooftop grid installations in the city.

With 1,045 homes having already started to utilize solar energy, they have already saved over 4,702,500 units of power, or Rs 31.35 lakh.

Additionally, the UP government gives subsidies under the plan for installing solar panels with a capacity of 1KW to 10KW, ranging from Rs 45,000 to Rs 1,08,000.

The next aim is expected to be reached in three to four months, guaranteeing greater access to solar energy and encouraging sustainable development across the state of Uttar Pradesh.
