A cat in China unintentionally starts a house fire, resulting in damages of Rs 11 lakh

In China, a cunning feline with the name of Jingoudiao unintentionally set off its owner’s induction cooker, resulting in a home fire and damages exceeding 100,000 yuan (about Rs 11 lakh). Unknowingly touching the cooker’s touch panel, Jingoudiao set off a fire in the kitchen that destroyed their Sichuan province home’s first story.

Owner Dandan was astonished to learn that her British Shorthair cat had accidentally caused the calamity when she returned home. Later, firefighters discovered the cat cowering in a cupboard, coated in ash but unhurt. The owner mockingly dubbed Jingoudiao a “arsonist” and changed the name of his Douyin account to “Sichuan’s most badass cat.”

According to the South China Morning Post, the homeowner got a call on April 4 from the property management team informing her that her house was on fire while she was out playing mahjong. She hurried back and saw that her cat had unintentionally started the fire. Dandan humorously revealed in the days that her daring cat would be working “to pay off her debt” by undertaking live streaming sessions. In order to get advice on fire safety, the cat was also trained to communicate via video chat with a fireman from Urumqi, Xinjiang. The strange request made the fireman laugh.

But after realizing that she had left the stove running, Dandan shared a signed letter and Jingoudiao’s paw print along with a public apology, promising to put fire safety first.

A startling pattern was found in a recent study conducted by the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation. Before 2014, there weren’t many instances of pets starting home fires, but in the last few years, the number of such incidents has increased. This mostly occurs as a result of new gas stoves with user-friendly buttons and pet owners leaving animals at home while they are out. According to the institute, dogs accidently starting a fire at home has been directly responsible for 61 house fires during the last 10 years.

A home fire was recorded in Canton, US, on the day of the unusual solar eclipse, according to News 5 Cleveland. When the neighborhood fire department arrived at the house at approximately three in the afternoon, they found a lady outside who had informed them about the kitchen fire. The homeowner, who is 76 years old, said that she thought one of her cats had set off a burner. Thankfully, the fireman put out the fire fast and bravely rescued 37 cats from the residence. Amazingly, not a single cat was hurt, and the lady managed to get away unscathed.
