After a mysterious illness, South African King Misuzulu Zulu was hospitalized

There aren’t many societies in the world where the monarchy still has administrative control over the state, yet the Zulu tribe in South Africa continues to be ruled by a king. Despite not having governmental authority, the monarch has a strong moral effect over the populace. The Zulu tribe has a significant history. The Zulus were the only people to resist and hold the British at bay when they colonized over half of the globe, including South Africa. Though legally it belongs to South Africa now, the locals still revere the monarch. The reigning monarch Misuzulu Zulu, who thinks he may have been poisoned, may not be doing well.

Misuzulu Zulu, 48, who is in charge of the most powerful traditional monarchy in the nation, has been uneasy after the passing of a close adviser. In all likelihood, the adviser had been poisoned, and now King Misuzulu worries that he could have been as well. According to AFP, a spokeswoman said that the monarch had a complete medical examination and checkup while in the neighboring country of Eswatini. The monarch was admitted to a hospital in Eswatini overnight after becoming unwell, but Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the Zulu Prime Minister, issued a press statement stating that the king is currently in excellent health.

King Misuzulu had a solid cause for his paranoia about a plot, even if he was only being paranoid. After a bloody power struggle after the death of his father, previous king Goodwill Zwelithini, he had succeeded to the throne. A private hospital near to the nation’s royal house was under strong protection, according to several police sources in Eswatini who spoke with AFP.

King Zwelithini died after more than 50 years in rule, leaving behind six wives and at least 28 children. Misuzulu, Zwelithini’s first child, was conceived by his third wife, whom he designated as regent in his will.

After a month of Zwelithini and the queen’s will, the queen passed away suddenly. The other family members did not take kindly to Misuzulu taking over as the new king, which sparked a conflict.
