Bihar: Major Bureaucratic Reorganization Transfers 15 Senior IAS Officers

Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) personnel in charge of several departments were given new postings in a significant bureaucratic reorganization by the Nitish Kumar administration in Bihar.

S Siddharth, an IAS officer from the Bihar cadre and a member of the 1991 batch, has been appointed Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the state Home Department, which reports to the chief minister.

Siddharth will continue to handle the extra responsibility of the Cabinet Secretariat Department in addition to his new duty until further instructions.

In accordance with a notice released by the state government’s General Administration Department (GAD) on Wednesday, KK Pathak, an IAS officer from the 1990 batch who played a key role in drafting the state’s prohibition legislation in 2016, has been appointed as the ACS of the state Education Department.

Dipak Kumar Singh, an IAS officer from the 1992 batch, was appointed as the new ACS of the state cooperative department, and Pathak has taken his post. Chaitanya Prasad, an IAS officer from the 1990 batch, has also been appointed ACS of the state Water Resources Department.

The state government has selected Harjot Kaur Bamhrah, an IAS officer from the 1992 batch, as the ACS of the Art, Culture, and Youth Affairs Department.

She has taken Bandana Preyashi’s position, an IAS officer from the 2003 batch who has been transferred to the state government’s Department of Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change.

With the G20 engagement groups gathering in Patna on June 22 and 23, the role of the Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Department is vital.

IAS officer from the 2007 batch, Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, has been named secretary of the state’s Prohibition, Excise & Registration Department.

Ashima Jain, an IAS official from the 2008 batch who just returned from a central assignment, has been named the Minor Water Resources Department’s Special Secretary.
