Instagram Introduces AR Effects, Trending Content, and Template Recommendations

Instagram, a photo-sharing app owned by Facebook parent company Meta, has updated its templates browser and added text, transitions, and augmented reality effects to its reel templates.

The business said, “In addition to the number of clips and music, we are adding text, transitions, and AR effects, and you can edit those as you see fit,” in a reel posted by Instagram Head Adam Mosseri.

The templates browser on Instagram is also being “completely” updated, allowing users to see popular templates as well as personalized suggestions and templates or music that artists have saved.

Speaking about the purpose behind these upgrades, Mosseri said that Templates 2.0 can motivate people to create something.

“We believe that anyone can be creative, and creativity isn’t limited to artistic masterpieces or professionals…sometimes you just need a little bit of inspiration, that’s where templates can come in,” he said.

Users may upload short videos (under 15 minutes) using Instagram reels. It is well-liked by consumers and adheres to the compact, portrait structure of Tiktok and YouTube clips.
