Squadrone, a drone company, will work with Geodia Industries

MUMBAI: On Wednesday, the Indian company announced that it has formed an alliance with Industrias Geodia, Guyana, South America, to leverage the US$ 3–4 billion opportunity in India, the Middle East, and South Asia. Squadrone Infra and Mining Pvt Ltd, a startup company in aerial intelligence for mineral exploration, mining, tunnelling, and infrastructure, is based in Bengaluru.

According to Squadrone, “the alliance’s focus is to redefine geophysical prospecting and leverage state-of-the-art technology to drive sustainable development and revolutionize mineral exploration.” He also mentioned that there is a significant supply gap resulting from the global demand for critical minerals that are necessary for green energy. Finding essential minerals like nickel, cobalt, niobium, graphite, lithium, and other green energy minerals has become more important as a result of this urgency. Priority one should be given to new discoveries, particularly in green field regions. The partnership aims to address the worldwide need for vital minerals that are necessary for the production of renewable energy.
Squadrone was one of the tech participants in the rescue operation of 41 trappe laborers from the Silkyara tunnel in 2023. The business used two cutting-edge drones that could be maneuvered within tunnels. They were piloted by a group of six experienced mining engineers, drone pilots, and geotechnical specialists. Drones were used to observe and assist in rescue operations.
“Through this initiative, we will be integrating our cutting-edge drone-based technology with Geodia Industries’ prowess in AI and ML-driven exploration technology to push the boundaries of geophysical prospecting,” said Cyriac Joseph, founder and CEO of Squadrone Infra and Mining Pvt. Ltd, in response to the partnership. This strengthens our objective to facilitate prompt and efficient decision-making, improve safety, productivity, and ecological responsibility. Our goal is to raise the bar for accuracy and productivity in the industry. The alliance seeks to transform the mining and exploration industry by prioritizing the finding of essential minerals and using eco-friendly technologies.
“This collaboration is a game-changer for the geophysical exploration sector; we will be breaking new ground in mineral exploration, particularly in challenging and inaccessible regions,” said Jorge Negrette, CEO of Geodia Industries. Our emphasis on locating essential minerals is a natural fit with Squadrone’s dedication to environmental, social, and governance (ESG), Net Zero, and little environmental disruption, as well as improving safety protocols with sustainability. This novel method not only guarantees increased resource identification accuracy but also greatly increases prospecting effectiveness, reduces environmental effect, and strengthens safety protocols.
Joseph continued by saying that the non-destructive technology used in this collaboration pushes the bounds of industry standards by using cutting-edge technologies like drone-based Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and drone-based magnetometer-MagArrow. “A variety of services, from accurate mineral prospecting to immersive 3D reality modeling, are offered by the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) applications, ensuring seamless mineral exploration,” he stated.
The company stated, “This collaboration between Squadrone and Geodia, paves the way for accelerated and environmentally friendly exploration processes aligned with ESG, Net Zero, and Sustainable development of mineral exploration and mining projects.” Exploration processes that take years to complete using traditional methods can now be finished in a matter of months.
