According to James Corden, a lot of Brits really believe he was “fired” from the Late Late Show

James Corden hasn’t exactly gotten the best reception at home after leaving Los Angeles.
Visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, the former host of The Late Late programmeme gave an update on his life in London, where he and his family relocated last year after the cancellation of his long-running CBS programmeme in April 2023.

In the year after his leave, the 45-year-old Corden admitted to host Jimmy Kimmel that it had been an “adjustment.” “You’re unaware of your institutionalisation,” he said.

It’s very amazing. However, it seems as if you’ve been institutionalised in a society where you always conclude each day with a standing ovation. And that is what I’ve come to realize—that this shift is extremely harmful for you,” he said to Kimmel.
In reference to the welcome he’s gotten back in his native United Kingdom, Corden said that although “people are very nice,” they don’t believe he left the programme on his terms.
“No one believes that I wasn’t let go. “Oh yeah,” is what people will say to me when I’m at a bar or anything. He remembered telling them, “Oh, because Max has finished sixth grade and we wanted him to have a relationship with his grandparents,” in response to their question about why he had come back. Indeed, people will honestly remark things like, ‘I don’t need that garbage.'” It’s okay, friend. It was your loss if you were let go.”
Corden feels that’s the response he gets because “nobody thinks you would ever leave what is — let’s be honest — a cushy existence.”
When Kimmel (56), the host of Prom, suggested that the actor get a formal letter from CBS stating that he was not fired, Corden said, “I would, except they don’t know what CBS is.” As such, their response will be, “Well, that’s not a real thing.” They’ll remark things like, “Hey, didn’t it start at 12:30 p.m.?” when I have to inform them about the programme. Watching a TV programme at that hour is ridiculous.
Corden has said for a long time that he chose to leave his position as the Late Late Show host because he wanted to spend more time with his family.
In an interview with Extra after announcing that 2023 would be his last season, Corden said that his children, Max, 11, and Charlotte, 6, with wife Julia Carey, “are getting older” and that “it perhaps just felt like the right time for us as a family to be freer in our decisions.”
Since departing, Corden has started a new company, the SiriusXM radio programme This Life of Mine with James Corden.
He verbally expressed his enthusiasm when his appearance on SiriusXM was announced in November 2023. “Scott and the whole team have welcomed me with open arms as I embark on this new adventure. It’s a dream come true to be able to speak in-depth with people whose skills and work I really appreciate.
The Kardashians, Julianne Moore, David Beckham, Dr. Dre, and even Kris Jenner—who sobbed when her daughter Kim, 43, revealed to her why her mother is her favourite person—have all appeared on the programme.
The footage showed Kim telling Corden that Jenner, 68, said, “Kim is the best; there’s nobody better.” “She takes care of us; we take care of her; she’s just the greatest mom on the planet,” Jenner said.
