Anup Jalota congratulates Shankar Mahadevan and Ustad Zakir Hussain for their accomplishments at the 2024 Grammy Awards

Anup Jalota, a well-known devotional singer, has congratulated musicians Rakesh Chaurasia, Shankar Mahadevan, and Ustad Zakir Hussain on their Grammy victories.

He told ANI, “Ustad Zakir Hussain is renowned all over the world,” while hailing the Tabla master for his accomplishment. India is proud of him. This year, he received the Grammy Award, and I’m thrilled for him. It is something that all Indians and artists can be proud of. Not to be forgotten is his father’s contribution to the world of tabla. I’m happy for him that he received the honor.”
Three honors were won by Ustad Zakir Hussain at the 66th Grammy Honors, which were held in the US on Monday.
With “Pashto,” the tabla musician and composer took home the prized title in the “Best Global Music Performance” category.
With their most recent album, “This Moment,” singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain’s fusion group Shakti received the Grammy Awards for Best Global Music Album.
“Shankar Mahadevan is a very versatile artist, a very good singer, and a very good music director, and I congratulate him for the award he has received for the Shakti band,” Jalota said in her congratulations to Mahadevan.
The renowned maestro Hariparasad Chaurasia’s nephew, veteran flautist and composer Rakesh Chaurasia, is a two-time Grammy Award winner.
The legendary singer congratulated him and said, “We are very proud of Rakesh Chaurasia for winning this honor. He has been gaining recognition for his for a long time. It is a source of national pride.”
With “Pashto,” the tabla musician and composer took home the prized title in the “Best Global Music Performance” category.
During his acceptance speech for “Pashto,” the 72-year-old percussionist from Mumbai expressed gratitude to Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh Chaurasia, his fellow musicians. He also expressed his deepest gratitude to his families, saying, “Without them, we are nothing… without love, without music, without harmony, we are nothing.”
The Grammy for ‘Best Contemporary Instrumental Album’ went to ‘As We Speak,’ the tabla masterwork featuring Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh Chaurasia. Hussain, who plays with Shankar Mahadevan in the jazz combo “Shakti,” was awarded “The Best Global Music Album Award” for their most recent album, “This Moment.”
John McLaughlin (guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocals), V Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist) are the creators of eight tracks on the album “This Moment.” Along with performers including Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy, and Davido, they received Grammy nominations.
In addition, the quartet includes violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan, drummer V Selvaganesh, and guitarist John McLaughlin.
The Shakti band faced up against performers such as Davido, Susana Baca, Bokante, and Burna Boy during the event. The album “This Moment” was made available on June 30 of last year.
The Grammy Awards’ 66th annual ceremony took place in Los Angeles.
