Oppenheimer: Krishna Nitish Bharadwaj of Mahabharat defends the contentious Bhagavad Gita sex scene, calling it a “physical act

Due to a sequence in Christopher Nolan’s much anticipated movie Oppenheimer in which Oppenheimer, portrayed by Cillian Murphy, reads words from the Bhagavad Gita while having sex with Florence Pugh’s character, the movie has caused controversy in India.

The sex scene in Oppenheimer drew reactions from actors and politicians, who criticized the film’s creators for demeaning the Bhagavad Gita. Nitish Bharadwaj, the actor who portrayed Lord Krishna in the Mahabharata, had a different take on the contentious moment. He defended the scenario in an interview with ETimes, saying, “A scientist thinks about his invention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, regardless of what he is doing. His creativity takes up all of his mental space, while the physical act is merely a simple mechanical action.

I urge people to consider this emotional component of Oppenheimer’s significant life events, he said. Is it not the case that we now see all of the explosive technologies destroying our own species because to human hunger for territorial and economic dominance, without any feeling of a greater responsibility as a person, a country, or a planet? The UN has to take seriously enforcing nuclear disarmament. The message from Nolan is quite obvious.

One sequence starring the key characters Cillian Murphy and Florence Pugh from Christopher Nolan’s most recent film Oppenheimer, which was one of the most eagerly awaited films in the world, has caused a tremendous uproar among the Hindu community.

The intimate moment between Murphy and Pugh has sparked a significant uproar in India, where the Hindu community has called for a boycott of the movie and criticized the censor board for leaving the scene in Oppenheimer.

When did Oppenheimer utilize Bhagavad Gita?

Actually, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer included two references to the Bhagavad Gita. The first time was during a sexual encounter between Cillian Murphy and Florence Pugh, and the second time was when Oppenheimer recited a Gita passage after the detonation of the atomic bomb: “Now I am become Death, the Destroyers of World.”

Although the real Oppenheimer had a close relationship with the Bhagavad Gita, this scenario has stirred up a great deal of debate among Hindus. The Hindu community is now calling for a boycott of the Nolan picture due to the connection between the Gita and the sex scene.
