People are compelled to watch Shekhar Suman and Dilip Kumar, Aamir Khan, according to Shekhar Suman

Right now, Shekhar Suman is sulking about Heeramandi’s success. Following the release of Sanjay Dutt’s Bhoomi in 2017, he is making his big-screen comeback with this movie. Shekhar, nevertheless, prefers not to consider Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi to be his return. He compared himself to Aamir Khan and Dilip Kumar in a recent conversation, stating that the reason for the break was that he wasn’t getting enough exciting parts.

Shekhar Suman said, “I am essentially a theatre actor,” in an interview with The Indian Express. There is never a resurgence. All you have to do is wait for the appropriate opportunity. I need to be excited about the part, so there may be a pause. You should give it time. I don’t work for attention alone—despite being in five movies and ten OTT series.

“I’ve learned a lot from Dilip Kumar, sir. He would typically work on one movie every two to three years. They all kind of hold themselves together so that others are compelled to watch them, even Aamir Khan. Being mired in mediocrity serves no purpose and hurts an actor greatly. You discover your error in the middle of a performance or film. The worst sensation is that he continued.

He said, “There is never pressure,” when asked whether there is any pressure to be recognized as an actor. Yes, there is a desire to be there and noticed, as well as to play parts that are unexpected by the audience and of the highest caliber. Not just astonish them, but astound them. That’s the exciting part. Something that would test me and cause me to lose sleep at night is what I would want to do. Something that inspires me to read the screenplay aloud before bed each night before heading to the set and to never stop thinking and developing, trying to figure out the best method to do it.

When discussing his collaborations with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shekhar also said that dealing with each actor is different, but if you are ready and prepared, he is the simplest to work with. He will likely get a bit impatient since he wants you to be well prepared but also absolutely open to change and improvisations. However, if you are afraid and lack confidence in yourself, there can be a problem.

I really like working with him. He said, “I think working with him is the ultimate thrill for an actor because you can do your scene in so many different ways; you’re not compartmentalized or straight-jacketed, and he gives you that latitude to open up and perform.”
