Meet Dr. Ravi Jayaram, an Indian-American Physician Who Alerted Authorities to a UK Nurse Associated With a Baby Killing Spree

One of those who raised concerns and assisted in the conviction of a nurse found guilty of murdering seven newborns by a UK court on Friday is a specialist pediatrician of Indian descent who was born in the UK and works at a hospital in northern England.

Some of those lives, according to Dr. Ravi Jayaram of the Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester, would have been spared if his worries about his former nursing colleague Lucy Letby had been taken seriously and the police had been informed earlier, according to PTI.

According to the story, a jury at Manchester Crown Court convicted Letby, 33, guilty of the murder of seven newborn infants as well as seven charges of attempted murder involving six further kids.

It said that she will get her punishment at the same court on Monday.

Dr. Jayaram was quoted in the paper as saying, “I do genuinely believe that there are four or five babies who could be going to school now but aren’t.”

According to the article, he said that after three newborns died in June 2015, specialists initially started voicing their worries.

Senior doctors like him met with hospital administrators many times to express their worries about Letby as more infants fell and died, it claimed.

The National Health Service (NHS) trust eventually permitted physicians to consult with a police officer in April 2017, it was noted.

“After listening to us for less than 10 minutes, the cops realized they needed to become engaged with this. I might have punched the air, according to a statement made by Dr. Jayaram.

It reported shortly after that a probe was opened that would result in Letby’s arrest.
