Holi Ready: A Dermatologist’s Advice for Luminous and Durable Skin

It’s important to make sure your skin is ready for Holi so it can handle the colors and celebrations coming up. It becomes essential to follow a skincare regimen before Holi to protect your skin from the potentially harmful chemicals included in the colors.

A brief guide is provided by dermatologist Dr. Chytra Anand, founder of SkinQ and Kosmoderma Clinics, to assist you in preparing your skin for the celebration:

Staying hydrated is essential.Hydrate your skin from the inside out first. In the days before Holi, stay hydrated and strengthen your skin by drinking plenty of water. To prepare the skin, use hyaluronic and sodium hyaluronate serums.

Apply generously moisturizing.Apply a lot of moisturizer to your skin to form a barrier of defense. To avoid the color from leaking into your pores and to keep your skin soft, use a thick, moisturizing moisturizer that contains ceramides and niacinamide.

shield of sun protectionPut on a water-resistant coating. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 40 to 50 to protect your skin from UV radiation. In addition to shielding your skin, this will stop the colors from damaging it from the sun.

Apply oil to your hair.Remember your hair and scalp! To establish a protective layer on your scalp and hair that will make it simpler to wash out the colors later, use coconut or almond oil. Additionally, by doing this, the colors won’t adhere to your scalp.

Use nail polish to prevent stains on your nails. Apply it to the area next to your nails to prevent staining. This will serve as a barrier against the color pigments, in addition to adding a festive touch.

Cover any exposed surfaces. To reduce direct contact with the hues, try wearing a scarf or long sleeves to protect exposed parts such as your arms, neck, and face.

Cut and formTo lessen the likelihood that color may become caught under your nails, think about cutting them short. Your nails will be less likely to break if you shape them.

Steer clear of cosmeticsAvoid wearing a lot of makeup during Holi. Choose waterproof makeup if you must wear it; it will be simpler to remove afterward.By following these easy procedures, you can protect your skin and enjoy the full spirit of Holi without worrying about how it may affect your skin.
