On Asia’s 50 Best pubs 2023, the Bombay Canteen in Mumbai is number 35. Three additional Indian pubs are included in the list

based in Mumbai On Tuesday, July 18, in Rosewood, Hong Kong, the esteemed Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2023 list was unveiled, including the Bombay Canteen located in Lower Parel at number 35.

Known for its cuisine and drinks, the neighborhood pub first welcomed patrons in 2015. The restaurant celebrates Indian vegetables in creative ways and boasts of handmade, silky libations, in-house infusions, and unexpected combinations. The menu included drinks like Spicy Gimlet, Plum Manhattan, and Stolen Kiss. The Waiting List, which debuted in the new Cocktail Menu last month, is one of the more recent additions.

The Bombay Canteen’s cozy bar comes to life with globe lights, antique lamps, and fluted glass, all of which are intended to promote relaxation, conversation, and connection. Ingredients, including infusions, bitters, shrubs, and tonics, are employed in the cocktails to produce an amazing array of distinctive combinations. Each Canteen Cocktail Book (bar menu) edition has a different design to bring the unsung tales of Mumbai to life, and the cocktail programme pays homage to them.

The Waiting List, a highball-style drink with coconut fat-washed tequila, curry leaf soda, and a curry leaf salt rim, is among the more recent offerings on the Canteen Cocktail menu. Other standouts include the Spicy Gimlet, a modern take on the classic with gin, house-made chili marmalade, bird eye chili tincture, and lime juice; and the Stolen Kiss, a creative fusion of tequila, pickled starfruit, and pineapple. Order one of the Mini Martinis, such as the Canteen Gibson, which combines gin, dry white wine, and seasonal pickle; the Plum Manhattan, which combines whiskey, house-made plum vermouth, and bitters; or Papa’s Palmetto, which combines dark rum, Luxardo Maraschino, Amaro Montenegro, and sweet vermouth, to enjoy the good times without judging them by their size.

With the exception of The Bombay Canteen, four Indian bars were included in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2023: Sidecar in Delhi came in at number 18, Copitas in Bengaluru at number 38, and the Living Room in Mumbai at number 48.
