2 detained after providing false sureties

At the District Court in Sector 43, Chandigarh, two persons were taken into custody on charges of issuing fraudulent sureties.

The suspects were identified as 39-year-old Sukhwinder Singh, also known as Sunny Sardar, of Rajpura, and 27-year-old Lakhwinder Singh of Sangrur. They yielded a bogus voter card from Lakhwinder and an Aadhaar card and a fraudulent voter card from Sukhwinder. After both accused were brought before the court, they were placed on five-day police remand.

Five additional offenders had already been taken into custody by the police: Bal Krishan from Ambala, Nitin from Sector 25 D, Arvind Kumar from Ambala, Rajan Dass from Rajpura, and Honey from Lalru.
