39 MP and 190 MLA nominees submit papers in Andhra Pradesh.

In the midst of sizable protests, candidates from the main parties filed their nominations to start the election process in the state. Y Sujana Chowdary of the NDA, Bhupesh Reddy of the TDP, the YSRC candidate for Hindupur, Joladarashi Shantha, the YSRC candidate for Rajampet, PV Midhun Reddy of the TDP, and the TDP Lok Sabha candidate for Narasaraopet, Lavu Srikrishna Devarayulu, are among the notable candidates who submitted their nominations on Thursday. Leaders of the TDP, BJP, and JSP presented nomination papers to the Mangalagiri municipal corporation office on behalf of TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh.

 

TDP candidate Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy and YSRC candidate Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy both submitted nomination papers for the Kovur Assembly seat in Nellore. at the Nellore rural sector, TDP’s Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and YSRC candidate Ramireddy Pratap Kumar Reddy submitted their nominations at Kavali.

Challa Ramachandra Reddy of the TDP for Punganur and D Prasad Rao of the TDP for the Chittoor parliamentary seat submitted their nominations. In Nagari, G Bhanu Prakash submitted his documents, while GC Jagan Mohan of the TDP and MC Vijayananda Reddy of the YSRC submitted their nominations for the Chittoor Assembly seat.

On the first day of nomination submission, the Election Commission reports that 190 nominations for Assembly districts and 39 nominations for parliamentary seats were submitted.

Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena said later in the day, during a press conference, that the State Assembly and Lok Sabha elections’ gazette notification was released on Thursday, concurrently with the start of nominations.

The electoral commission’s standards state that nominations must be submitted in the authorized format and between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the designated location. The deadline for nomination withdrawal is April 29. The nominations will be scrutinized on April 26. Following that, a ballot paper will be developed and the final list of candidates announced. He said, “The election is scheduled for May 13 and the results will be released on June 4.

According to the CEO, voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for all Assembly divisions, with the exception of six in the Araku parliamentary constituency. Araku, Paderu, and Rampachodavaram will have polling from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Palakonda, Kurupam, and Saluru from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A candidate may spend no more than `95 lakh on an Assembly segment and `40 lakh on a parliamentary seat.

“A general observer, a police observer, and an expenditure observer for the State have been designated as special observers by the Election Commission. In addition to them, he said, there would be fifty general observers, eighteen police observers, twenty-five observers for parliamentary districts and fifty observers for Assembly seats.

Regarding voting from home, he said that under the recently revised Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, those with disabilities, elderly citizens (over 85 years of age), and those engaged in critical services would all be eligible to use the optional postal ballot option. “Prior to that, these voters’ approval will be obtained for the home voting facility from April 18 to 22. This facility will be available only to those who consented. We shall call them voters who are not present. The State has 2.12 lakh voters who are 85 years of age or older and 5.30 lakh voters with disabilities, the CEO said.
