52 lakh farmers in AP get payments of Rs 5,500 each as part of the YSR Rythu Bharosa-PM Kisan Scheme

At Pattikonda in the Kurnool district on Thursday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy awarded Rs 5,500 in cash support to 52.3 lakh eligible farmers under the first tranche of the YSR Rythu Bharosa-PM Kisan programme for the fifth year in a row.

However, the Central Government has not yet received the Rs 2,000 payment owed under this programme, which when it does, the disbursement for these farmers would increase to Rs 7,500. The portion from the state government is Rs. 5,500.

In a video clip posted by the state government on Wednesday, the chief minister addressed farmers, saying, “Your son’s (Jagan) government is a government that believes that the state will be prosperous only when the farmer is prosperous.”

Reddy said that his administration has kept every promise made in the manifesto and advised farmers who were having trouble obtaining financing not to struggle while growing crops.

In three installments, the AP government provides Rs 13,500 in cash aid via this programme to all landless SC, ST, BC, and minority tenant farmers, including those farming endowment lands. In the last four years, the state has paid out Rs 30,985 crore through this programme.

Even though Reddy claimed in his election platform that he would provide Rs 12,500 in aid for four years, he claimed the pledge has now been improved to provide Rs 13,500 for five years, providing farmers with an extra Rs 17,500.
