A Surat Yoda Day event just broke a world record: Sanghavi, Minister of Gujarat

Harsh Sanghavi, the state minister for housing in Gujarat, said on Wednesday that Surat’s Yoga Day event had established a “new Guinness World Record” for the most yoga class attendance in one location. The event attracted more than a lakh participants, breaking the previous record, according to Sanghavi.

Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister of Gujarat, attended the state-wide commemoration of the “International Day of Yoga” in Surat’s Dumas neighborhood. Patel said in his speech before to the start of the Yoga Day session that 1.25 crore people participated in the celebration of Yoga Day across 72,000 locations in the state.

“The Yoga Day event in Surat has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people for a yoga session in one place,” Sanghavi remarked at the time. Patel said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi made yoga famous all around the globe.

He remarked, “We saw how pranayama and yoga benefitted patients during the coronavirus outbreak. “From 72,000 venues around Gujarat, approximately 1.25 crore people have participated in today’s Yoga Day session. With the help of more than one lakh individuals, a global record was set in Surat, according to Patel.

In order to spread awareness of yoga, the chief minister said that the state government will soon build 21 “Yog Studios.” 5,000 teachers have been trained by the state Yog Board thus far. The state government is preparing to open 21 yoga studios in the state in the coming days,” he added.

While the state-level celebration of International Yoga Day took place in Surat with Chief Minister Patel in attendance, other ministers, MLAs, members of Parliament, and bureaucrats participated in events in other districts. The state government has chosen 75 “iconic places” around the state to commemorate Yoga Day as the nation marks 75 years of independence.

According to a formal statement, these locations include the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, the White Rann of Kutch, and the Modhera Sun Temple.

The activities for Yoga Day were also organized in a number of towns, cities, colleges, schools, health facilities, police stations, prisons, and administrative offices, it was stated.
