While walking with his buddy Surman Singh on Sunday near the Abohar bypass at Bahawalbasi Chowk, Harpreet Singh of Panjpir Nagar was shot. Speaking with Gurjit Singh and Raman Vicky, two locals who had arrived in their vehicle, were the pair. A Fortuner vehicle abruptly stopped there, and three people got out and assaulted Gurjit. The driver of the Fortuner vehicle shot Harpreet when she and Surman interfered. The miscreants left after this.

According to the SSP, a case has been filed in accordance with Sections 25–27, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act and 307, 323, and 34 of the IPC. The witnesses have some knowledge about the Fortuner’s registration number. After the accused were identified by investigation teams, three of them were taken into custody. The vehicle used in the crime and an unlicensed handgun have been taken into custody. It seemed expected that interrogation would solve the enigma behind the assault.
