On Monday, Janet Yellen, the secretary of the US Treasury, said that the US and India are among the closest allies in the world and that her nation values India’s leadership during its G20 presidency.

Prior to the India-US interaction as part of the G20 conference now taking place here in Gujarat, Yellen and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke to the media on Monday.

“Our bilateral relationship with India is very important to us. Among the world’s closest allies are the US and India. The US values India’s leadership during its G20 presidency, according to a statement from Yellen.

Sitharaman noted the event by stating that “PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the US last month and his meeting with the US president have enhanced the strength and dynamism of partnership between both countries.”

The historic visit opened up new possibilities for cooperation and raised the level of our alliance, according to Sitharaman in her statement.
