Army Chief Gen. Manoj Pande claims that IPACC is a shining example of what can be accomplished when nations work together

Army Chief General Manoj Pande said on Tuesday that India’s Indo-Pacific strategy is focused on preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states in light of rising international concern over China’s increasingly assertive military posture in the area. He also emphasized that bringing nations together might advance peace and sane politics.

General Pande further said that India’s commitment to constructively engaging all players in the area has been constant and durable in a speech at a summit of army chiefs of Indo-Pacific states in Delhi.

According to him, the Indo-Pacific region should focus on peaceful conflict settlement, refraining from the use of force, and upholding international law.

The Army commander said, “Yet we are seeing manifestations of interstate contestations and competitions, even as efforts by nations are converging towards a free Indo-Pacific.

The Army commander also said that “challenges we face transcend across borders and our response to them must factor in this”.

Gen. Pande stressed the significance of the Indo-Pacific, saying it is a network of interdependencies rather than just a collection of countries.

We want to increase trust and foster teamwork, he added.

Additionally speaking at the summit, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “The Indo-Pacific region has emerged as a pivotal geopolitical and strategic concept in recent years, transforming from a primarily maritime concept into a comprehensive strategic framework.”

The minister said that the Indo-Pacific region confronts a complicated web of security issues, such as piracy and territorial conflicts. The governments in the area, together with all of their organizations, including their Armies, are fully involved in addressing these security concerns.

Major General Peter Scott, Deputy Commander of the Canadian Army, addressed the media on the sidelines of the conclave in the midst of the current diplomatic dispute between India and Canada, saying, “it’s a political matter, and we will let the political masters deal with it. The armies (of both nations) will concentrate on exchanging knowledge and seeking out chances to drill and exercise together.

Attending the summit, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti told PTI, “We want free wide oceans without piracy or under the jurisdiction of any government. Thirdly, we want wealth and increased commerce. The second goal is to ensure that people uphold the rule of law. Additionally, we want to ensure that in the event of a confrontation, our Armies are familiar with, able to work with, and trust one another.

General Randy George, the Chief of Staff of the US Army, said in his speech that while the strategic environment is difficult, it is nothing new. We have surmounted difficulties in the past, and we will continue to do so.
