Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, will remain in judicial prison until April 15; there will be no reprieve

In connection with a money-laundering case involving the excise policy, a Delhi court on Monday placed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal under judicial detention until April 15.

When Kejriwal’s detention from the Enforcement Directorate ended, he was brought before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja.

Kejriwal was placed under 15 days of judicial detention by the ED, which said he was “totally uncooperative.”

The AAP leader told reporters before to going into court that “whatever the prime minister is doing” (referring to his detention) is bad for the nation.

In court were AAP ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Sunita Kejriwal, who is Kejriwal’s wife.

Kejriwal was taken into custody by the federal investigative agency on March 21 in relation to the matter.

The next day, Special Judge Baweja placed him under ED custody with a deadline of March 28.

After then, the judge granted the ED’s motion to extend his questioning while he was in custody by four days, till April 1.

Within the remand request, the investigative body has charged the AAP leader with “participating in the whole Delhi liquor scam conspiracy, in the policy’s drafting and implementation, for favoring and benefiting the quid pro who received kickbacks and eventually used part of the proceeds of crime generated out of the scheduled offence in the Goa Assembly elections.”
