Bengaluru’s cholera outbreak: 46 people were released, one was hospitalized

Of the 47 postgraduate students (PG students) from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) hospitalized to Victoria Hospital on Friday due to diarrhea and dehydration, 46 of them have been released. The trauma care center is currently treating one kid, and a culture report is still due, according to Dr. Ramesh Krishna K., the BMCRI’s director and dean.

The dormitory where the students were residing was shuttered after the event, and food from Victoria Hospital was given to them. Three of the pupils tested positive for cholera on Saturday. But cholera tests on the hostel water samples came up negative.

“All government and private hospitals have been instructed to report any confirmed cases of cholera to the integrated health information portal,” said Health Commissioner Randeep D. In order to determine if the five positive cases in Bengaluru are isolated occurrences or whether there are signs of clustered epidemics, efforts are being made to map these cases regionally.
