BJP Tries “Operation Lotus” in Karnataka; Siddaramaiah Says Congress MLAs Offered Rs. 50 Crore

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: According to a media report on Saturday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is attempting to carry out so-called “Operation Lotus” in the state that is ruled by the Congress. He further claimed that the saffron party “offered Rs 50 crore” to the ruling party’s MLAs in exchange for joining the BJP prior to the Lok Sabha elections.

Siddaramaiah said in an interview with India Today that the BJP was trying to oust his administration in Karnataka by offering bribes to Congress MLAs so they would defect before the next general elections. The Chief Minister also said that in the event that the Grand Old Party loses the Lok Sabha elections in the southern state of Karnataka, the BJP will overthrow his administration there.

The NDA won’t get enough seats to form a government.
In the meantime, Siddaramaiah said in a Friday interview with the news agency PTI that although the opposition India coalition may not gain an outright majority in the next legislative elections, the NDA also won’t get enough seats to form the government at the centre.

In contrast to the BJP’s self-proclaimed objective of “Abki baar 400-paar,” the Karnataka chief minister voiced confidence that a “government minus the BJP” will take power at the national level. This is because there is an “undercurrent” in the nation that is “against” the saffron party.

“The BJP-led NDA government at the federal level will not exist.” The country is under the influence of something. A phenomenon known as the quiet voter phenomenon exists. When the results are out, you will see,” Siddaramaiah said.

“From what I understand, the BJP will win more than 200 seats, according to a poll. The chief minister said, “They will not ascend to power on their own.”

Political parties will realign themselves after the elections. He added that leaders of regional parties in the South, including Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal and Odisha and Naveen Patnaik of Odisha, will unite to form a government.

Siddaramaiah provided an explanation for the BJP’s low turnout this time, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not held any elections since 2014. According to him, the two main concerns today are price increases and unemployment.
