Brij Bhushan Singh’s accusations will be framed by a Delhi Court decision that will be issued today

In the sexual harassment case brought by six female wrestlers, the national capital’s Rouse Avenue Court will issue a ruling on Friday about the “framing of charges” against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) head and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Priyanka Rajpoot said that while the order is nearing completion, some editing work remains; hence, the date of May 10 is being rescheduled while she deferred the ruling to Tuesday.

The same court denied Bhushan’s request for an extension of the probe on April 26, citing his absence from the nation on September 7, 2022, the date of the alleged sexual harassment.

Singh said that he was in Serbia and not in Delhi on the specified day.

In addition, Singh had recorded coach Vijender’s call detail record on an alleged incident that occurred at the WFI headquarters in New Delhi.

Atul Srivastav, the Additional Public Prosecutor (APP), previously said that the prosecution is not at fault if defense counsel has not raised an argument for anything. According to the application, the coach was located in the same region as the WFI office after a CDR analysis was conducted.

Brij Bhushan’s attorney, Rajiv Mohan, made an appearance. He said that in August 2022, the victim traveled to Bulgaria. She then enrolled at WFI in September 2022.

On June 15 of last year, the Delhi Police filed a chargesheet against Vinod Tomar and Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Due to their cooperation in joining the inquiry and complying with the directives under Section 41A CrPC, it was said that both accused are charged with trial ‘without arrest’.

Sections 354, 354 (A), and 354 (D) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) were the subjects of the chargesheet. Vinod Tomar, the accused, is said to have assisted or helped the crime’s commission. As a result, he is being sent for trial in accordance with IPC sections 354, 354 (A), 109, and 506.

44 witness testimonies are included in the case’s 1599-page chargesheet and are filed under CrPC 164.

Delhi Police included many photos, including one taken during the incidents, in the charge sheet.

According to the charge sheet filed by the Delhi Police, Singh was “liable to be prosecuted and punished for offences of sexual harassment, molestation, and stalking” based on the “investigation so far” of the accusations made by six prominent wrestlers. Per the charge sheet, witnesses claimed to have seen the then-president of WFI making a “physically wrong gesture” as well.

Women wrestlers filed a complaint that led to the filing of this lawsuit.

Two Federal Investigation Reports (FIRs) were filed against Brij Bhushan in the wrestlers’ case based on the wrestlers’ accusations.

In this instance of a juvenile wrestler, one was recorded under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, and a cancellation report has been sent.

“After completion of the investigation, we are filing a chargesheet for the offences under sections 354, 354A, and 354D of the IPC against accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and for the offenses under sections 109, 354, 354A, and 506 of the IPC against accused Vinod Tomar before the Rouse Avenue Court,” Delhi Police officials stated in the FIR filed by the wrestlers.
