Collegium suggests five new CJs be appointed

Five judges have been proposed for nomination as Chief Justices to as many high courts by the Supreme Court collegium. The decisions were approved on Wednesday by a three-member Collegium led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and included Justices Sanjeev Khanna and BR Gavai.

On Thursday, the message was posted on the website of the Supreme Court. It has been suggested that Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, Justice Arun Bhansali, and Justice Vijay Bishnoi, who are now serving as judges of the Rajasthan High Court, be appointed chief justices of the Rajasthan, Allahabad, and Gauhati high courts, in that order.

It has been suggested that Justice Sheel Nagu, a Madhya Pradesh High Court judge, be appointed chief justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The collegium letter said that Justice BR Sarangi, an Orissa High Court judge, has been recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court. More than 1,230 reported decisions have been written by Justice Bhansali, more than 1,056 by Justice Sarangi, more than 499 by Justice Nagu, and 652 by Justice Bishnoi, Justice Shrivastava, and more.
